Amelia Cotter
Welcome to my profile page! I am a writer and author, and my books for children and adults include the top selling This House: The True Story of a Girl and a Ghost, Maryland Ghosts: Paranormal Encounters in the Free State, and Breakfast with Bigfoot (ages 3-6), illustrated by Charles Swinford.
A native Marylander, I graduated from Hood College with a degree in German and History. I now live in Chicago, where I have worked as a German and English instructor and written professionally for several businesses and nonprofit organizations. I have also been a content consultant for Heinemann-Raintree Publishers, and a consultant and translator (English to German) for Rock House Press. My short fiction and haiku have appeared in journals like Black Oak Presents, Acorn and The Heron’s Nest, as well as the Anthology of English Language Haiku by Women.
In the supernatural realm, I am also a co-founder of the small investigative and research team, the Chicago Paranormal Seekers. I have been a guest on various radio programs, and regularly present my books and lectures at paranormal conferences and events. My work has been recognized in Time Out Chicago magazine. I am definitely a ghost geek as well as a history and folklore buff, and hope to share my love for the many wonders of the world, while inspiring others to explore it, through my books, stories, and poetry.
You can find me and my books on Facebook, or you can write to me any time at ameliamcotter@gmail.com.
